LAMIYA HOQUE
homegrown leadership
MEET LAMIYA HOQUE
lifelong resident. educator. city commissioner. school board member.
I am grateful to announce my candidacy for Buena Park City Council, District 4, and am humbled to be endorsed by all current Buena Park Council Members, city commissioners, school board members, legislators, and countless residents. I am the only candidate endorsed by the Buena Park Police and Buena Park Firefighters.
I am a lifelong resident in the City of Buena Park and product of local public school districts. I graduated from Centralia Elementary School and Oxford Academy. I hold a B.A. in environmental policy from California State University of Long Beach, a Masters in Public Administration from California State University of Dominguez Hills, and I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in education from Chapman University.
An advocate of civic duty, my involvement began as a youth volunteer at the Buena Park Library and with the city's Volunteer Opportunities and Leadership for Teens program. In 2020, I had the privilege to be elected as a School Board Member for the Centralia Elementary School District. I have also been appointed to the Community Services Commission for the City of Buena Park, the Special Education Local Plan Area Governing Board, and the Legislative Committee for the California School Board Association. As a homegrown leader, I have devoted my life to public service.
I have dedicated myself to a career in higher education teaching at Chapman University. I teach Leadership, Ethics, and a course called the Philosophy of Helping. Both of my parents reside in Buena Park and are local business owners. I am married to Sadat, a small business owner and professional cricket player.
I love the City of Buena Park and it would be an honor to serve my hometown. I hope I can count on your vote.
